Zoo Lagos is a magnificent zoo, founded on the principle of “conservar-educar-proteger”…conservation-education-protection. You can tell as soon as you go in that Zoo Lagos is all about the animals, the environment they live in is beautiful and the animals are so happy that many of them are breeding!
Zoo Lagos isn't a big commercial zoo, but it is beautiful and relaxing and can be travelled around with ease - it makes it a great day out for all ages, without being too tiring. But with more than 120 animal species and 200 botanical species from 5 continents, there is so much to look at that you’ll want to go back again and again!
Additional Information:
Zoo Lagos also has a 'children’s' petting farm (don't forget to have some 50 cent pieces to feed the goats and pigs), a playground, snack bar and a small shop to buy souvenirs and handicrafts. There are also plenty of seats around the zoo if you want to take a packed lunch and relax somewhere to watch the animals. If you do want to enjoy a more substantial meal while you at the zoo, there is also a restaurant 'Restaurante O Cangalho' just at the entrance - it is traditionally decorated, boasts a beautiful outside seating area and serves a wide variety of tradtional dishes.

Pelicans at 1pm and 3pm
Primates at 4pm.

Opening Times:
Winter (from the 1st of October to the 31st of March): 10.00 – 17.00
Summer (from the 1st April to the 30th September): 10.00 – 19.00
Open 7 days a week all year round.
Directions:
Get on to the A22 and take the Sines-Aljezur exit (from the west point of the road). Pass through Bensafrim and then turn right to Barões. Just 3 minutes along the road and you get to Zoo Lagos.
