The historic town centre is still embraced in part by 16th century walls and 17th century fortress, "Ponta da Bandeira", still stands proudly over the river mouth. There are also several beautiful churches within the town, including the lavishly decorated "Golden Church" of St. Anthony which has a museum attached and is just one of many great things to do in Lagos.
